AEI-89 Ganges and India 8N-9D

Expert Rating: Asia Escapes

“This 9-day program is logistically brilliant. By including the high-speed train to Varanasi, we avoid long airport layovers and allow travelers to experience India’s ever-changing landscape in an authentic way.
What makes this trip special is its emotional rhythm: it begins with the historical intensity of Delhi, moves through the colorful palaces of Jaipur and the perfection of the Taj Mahal, and ends with the spiritual climax that only Varanasi can offer. It’s a trip that will satisfy both the photography enthusiast and the seeker of inner experiences. The extra night in Delhi at the end of the trip (Day 8) is a great addition, providing a safety margin for international flights and some much-needed decompression time after the intensity of Varanasi.”

Itinerary Highlights

  • Delhi Contrast : The mix between the vibrant chaos of Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi and the spiritual serenity of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.
  • The splendor of Jaipur: The majestic climb to Amber Fort and the visit to the white marble Birla Temple at sunset, a moment of peace before dinner.
  • Agra and its History: Not only the Taj Mahal, but the immensity of the Red Fort, where Mughal architecture reaches its maximum expression of power.
  • High-Speed Train Experience: The Agra-Varanasi journey allows you to experience modern India on rails, crossing the northern plains efficiently and comfortably.
  • Aarti Ceremony in Varanasi : A sensory spectacle of fire, bells and chanting on the banks of the Ganges that represents the essence of Hinduism.
  • Mystic Dawn : The boat ride on the Ganges River, watching the city awaken amidst the mist and the purification rituals of thousands of pilgrims.

Key Notes for the Traveler

  • Varanasi : It is the oldest and holiest city in India. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking through the narrow alleyways ( galis ) after the boat trip.
  • Friday in Agra: Day 6 has been carefully planned to visit the Taj Mahal, avoiding Friday, the day the monument is closed.
  • Luggage: There is space for suitcases on the high-speed train, but we recommend traveling compactly to facilitate transfers at stations.
